These 5 Foods May Astonish You As They May Cause Steady Hair Loss

Frequent consumption of certain common foods appears harmless but these can actually contribute to hair loss and thinning if consumed in excess. How much nutrition your hair receives depends upon the food you eat. It is essential to eat healthy but in many circumstances things that seem healthy might not be that healthy.

Apart from your diet there are certain other factors leading to hair loss including hormonal imbalance, genetics, stress and so forth.

People are often seen sticking to supplements or chemical based cosmetic treatments, which they assume as a quick fix for hair loss. But the reality is different. We need food for our body and hairs for growth. If this food isn’t healthy it may cause hair loss. Let’s discuss these foods which are silently harming your hairs.

  • Carbohydrates

Refined carbs, pasta, pastries and white bread may act like sugar. Hence insulin spikes may promote the production of DHT hormone which can definitely shrink hair follicles. As the nutritional values of such foods are limited the body might not receive the energy it requires. Such foods are said to be blocking the body’s defense against stress. Once you are stressed hair fall might be induced.

  • Nuts

These are rich in proteins and healthy fats essential for hair growth. But many individuals are extremely allergic to nuts. They experience some sort of reaction after taking little amount of nuts. Nuts also contain selenium which is harmful for the hairs, mostly for those who witness allergy after eating.

  • Sugar

Excess consumption of sugar may lead to poor blood circulation. When the blood is not circulating properly it might not reach up to the hair follicles. Scalp inflammation occurs when the scalp remains cold due to poor blood circulation which ultimately harms the hairs.

Hormonal imbalance occurs due to excess intake of sugar causing spikes in insulin levels. This leads to increased production of androgens speeding up hair loss especially in women because androgen is considered as a male hormone.

  • Dairy Products

Dairy products like full fat milk and cheese may cause hormonal shift. In sensitive individuals dairy products may stimulate oil glands with increased DHT levels leading to a hair fall. Inflammation caused by dairy may affect the overall scalp health if someone is sensitive to lactose.

  • Drinks

Carbonated drinks are harmful for the overall health. These drinks interact with insulin within the body; hence the body becomes less responsive towards sugar. The bloodstream is filled with excessive sugar. This ultimately harms the body’s blood circulation leading to hair loss.

Other drinks like alcohol helps in diminishing the zinc levels in the body. Hair growth and hair volume is enhanced by zinc as a mineral. It is also doubted that alcohol interferes with protein synthesis if it is consumed on a regular basis. Protein synthesis within the body is very important as the hairs grow primarily because of proteins.

Using a shampoo can benefit some but the final solution is to consume food which helps in hair growth and which is good for our overall health. Exceptions are always there. For few the above mentioned foods might not cause much damage. But in general excess consumption of such foods leads to a hair fall.
